Moonbeams Jewelry
Logo

Having worked with artist Adity Karande since Moonbeams Jewelry was created, my design work has evolved alongside the business. This was the third and current iteration of the company logo. The logo seal is based on a traditional Indian block print. Given that Mrs. Karande’s design work is influenced by ancient Indian art, I felt the block print would convey her brand well. While the original block print was a floral design, I reshaped it to signify an “M” (for Moonbeams) and the branches above seemed to convey the rays of a rising moon, or “Moonbeams.” The symmetry of the design, although not exact, at a distance also looks like earrings. The shape is reasonably distinct and elegant in order to convey the luxuriousness and sophistication of Mrs. Karande’s work. Because the logo seal was more ethnic, rounded, and thick, I believed a light-weighted serif font would work. So, I based the logo text on Minion, a clean and versatile serif, with custom modifications to the “M” and “B.” Finally, I wanted to include Mrs. Karande’s name in logo text to not just contrast the weight of the heavy text and image, but establish a greater visual depth and finesse, while acting as an artist’s stamp.
